DIY workshops for women led by women to provide a relaxed learning environmental where we'll guide you through hands on practical tasks so you gain confidence tackling jobs around the home saving you money.
Limited spaces on each course so attendee's have plenty of time to practice skills in the class.
In May and June we ran two courses:
DIY Basics
Perfect for complete beginners with little to no prior experience. This hands-on workshop builds your confidence from the ground up, taking you from tool-timid to safely and securely putting up your own shelves and fixtures.
Home Maintenance
Designed to save you money on expensive call-out fees for minor household issues, this practical workshop teaches you how to confidently diagnose, tackle, and fix the most common everyday problems around your home completely on your own.
New course dates coming soon! Subscribe to our mailing list to stay up to date. We will only ever email you with updates about the Handy Hub and our upcoming DIY courses.
Who are we?
Gemma & Katy, We’re two DIY enthusiasts who run The Handy Hub workshops designed to build confidence with tools, repairs, and everyday home maintenance. Between us, we’ve spent years fixing, learning, experimenting, and upgrading our home.
What inspired us to start these workshops?
It all began on an ordinary morning. We were pottering around at home when we spotted our neighbour trying to paint her kitchen, a job she’d been waiting ages for her husband to get round to. Instead of just offering to help, we popped in and showed her some simple cutting‑in techniques, the right tools to make the job easier, and a few prep ideas to get a cleaner finish.
The best part wasn’t the freshly painted kitchen. It was watching her confidence grow. With a bit of guidance and encouragement, she not only finished the room beautifully, she went on to paint several more rooms in the house.
That moment made something click for us: it’s not a lack of ability, it’s simply needing a boost of confidence and the same “well, I can probably do that myself” attitude that we have. And that’s exactly what we want to pass on.
What will I learn in the workshops?
You’ll learn a mix of theory and hands‑on skills that help you understand why things work the way they do, not just how to do them. We believe that when you understand the bigger picture, the practical tasks feel far less intimidating.
You can expect:
Clear, simple theory to help you understand the tasks you’re about to try
Practical demos so you can see techniques in action
Hands‑on practice in a safe, supportive environment
Simple fixes and everyday skills you can use around the home straight away
Money‑saving know‑how so you can tackle small jobs yourself instead of paying someone else
